Cafe Asia 2019, 4th year in a row for Sapiens Global

At Marina Bay Sands Conference Hall, in Singapore, the 7th International Cafe Asia was officially opened on March 21st, with the presence of Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Industry & Trade and Ministry of Education. Sapiens Global exhibited for the 4th year, since 2016. For this event, the main topic was the “Fight Against Diabetes”, introducing the Brazilian range of low sugar products, featuring the stevia-based sweeteners, low sugar fruit juices and cakes and sweets preparations, by the Brazilian brands Lowçúcar and Magro. The soluble yerba-mate from Mateex was presented as a powerful aid in the treatment of diabetes.
Fruit jams prepared by the 3rd generation of a family business from Rio Grande do Sul State, in Brazil, under the brand of Doces Vapor Velho were presented and positively tasted by the visitors with tangerine, orange and the tangerine-peppermint flavours.
Kaffe-Kantate, a Brazilian blend of coffee with the new individual drip-filter technology made a huge success. The launch of the mineral water Acqua Única attracted locals interested in the pure water from Brazil, the largest reservoir of natural water in the world.

Sapiens Global in Portugal: The Gate to Europe

After 10 years working on Market Assessment between Asia and Latin America, Sapiens Global started to prospect the Portuguese market a year ago, at the International Business Meeting III, promoted by AIP-CCI – CCI, Portuguese Industrial Association/Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  One year later, we are back in Portugal for a series of meetings in the North Region, in a perspective to support Portuguese companies coming to Asia, mainly Japan and China. The main targets are Food & Beverage importers in Asia but Education & Technology are some of the other areas our clients are looking for.

New Trends in Brazilian Intellectual Property

“The Economical and Political Outlook of Brazil”, after elections, was the theme presented by Mr. Peter Eduardo Siemsen, partner at Dannemann Siemsen, from Brazil at the opening of the seminar “New Trends in Brazilian Intellectual Property”. Around 50 attendees, including some of the most prestigious Japanese agents in the business of Intellectual Property joined the afternoon gathering at the Embassy of Brazil in Tokyo.

Following the initial presentation, Mr. Akiyoshi Imaura, Director of the Regional Cooperation Office of the JPO came to an overview of Brazil/Japan PPH Agreement. Discussions on Protection of Patents and Recent Developments on trademark prosecution and perspectives for Madrid Protocol were in focus, too. The final presentation, “How to effectively enforce IP rights in Brazil”, by Mr. Joaquim Eugenio Goulart, partner at Dannemann Siemsen, has led to a succession of questions and answers, with some specific questions about difficulties faced by Japanese companies in Brazil, regarding Intellectual Property and the long time required to process the applications.

Sapiens Global took the opportunity to better understand the situation in Mercosur as one of our clients is requiring patents and trademark registration to cover Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

 

 

Sapiens Global meets “The DOT way of doing EdTech”

The DOT Group, a Brazilian corporation created in 1996 believes there are no limits of time or space for education or qualification of people. As the world is becoming more and more connected with telecom and all the technologies we have access nowadays, we met Mr. Luiz Alberto Ferla, CEO and Mr. Mario Hirose, Sales Director, to learn more about the expansion plans of DOT Group in Asia.

The meeting was organized by SECOM, the Trade Sector at the Embassy of Brazil in Singapore and, representing Sapiens Global, our Head of Business Development (Sapiens Global Malaysia), Mr. Douglas Baquetti.

Expanding the Brazilian presence in Vietnam

As Brazil and Vietnam are in preparation for the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2019 and the business relationship of the two countries are increasing, Sapiens Global decided to include Vietnam in a prospection mission to explore new opportunities in trade. According to Apex Brasil, coffee and tea are traditional markets with opportunities to expand the Brazilian share in Vietnam and we are helping some of our Brazilian clients to come in. Besides the agrobusiness, Sapiens Global is representing  a Brazilian company acting in the dental devices business.

Mr. Douglas Baquetti, Head of Business Development of Sapiens Global in ASEAN area, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, visited Hanoi for a series of negotiation in dental business during the VIDEC – Vietnam International Dental Exhibition Conference in Hanoi and had the opportunity to discuss a business approach at the Trade Sector of Embassy of Brazil. The Head of Trade Sector, Secretary Marcela Magalhães Braga and Mr. Douglas Baquetti registered the moment at the Embassy in Hanoi.
