Cafe Asia 2018: The Brazilian Yerba Mate comes to Southeast Asia

Sapiens Global booth at ICT – Coffee and Tea Industry Expo and Cafe Asia 2018, at Marina Bay Sands, introduced for the first time at this show the Brazilian Yerba Mate.


The Ilex Paraguariensis tree ( yerba mate tree) produces a nutrient rich leaf which has been heavily cultivated in Brazil and Argentina since the late 1800’s. For the local markets, the fresh leaves get dried, chopped up, matured, packaged and sold in shops and supermarkets in massive quantities as a kind of loose tea. About 30 years ago, beverages companies started to sell Mate as a refreshing drink, in a soluble form to add water or prepared in bottles, plastic cups or cans.

Region of Brazil and one of Sapiens Global’s partner in Food & Beverage industry, provided samples of the Mate Tea (or Yerba Mate) for our visitors. Beverage produced with the dry extract obtained from the leaves of the mate tree, during the tasting sessions at our booth, gave the visitors the real sensation of this amazing product.

Yerba Mate can be potentially used for treating diabetes and obesity, the concentration used as a refreshment can affects food intake, resulting in higher energy expenditure, likely as a result of higher basal metabolism. 

Brazilian Coffee at Cafe Asia 2017

Sapiens Global is returning to Cafe Asia in Singapore, after the successful experience in 2016. For this year, in an area three times larger, 12 different companies are showing Brazilian products, managed by the Singaporean commercial team of Sapiens Global and the support of The Embassy of Brazil in Singapore.

Café de Comer“, or “coffee to eat”, is back to the stage. On March 2nd, from 2:30pm, Mr. Helio Ciffoni will be talking for a selected audience about the benefits to import and distribute “Cafe de Comer” in Asia, a unique edible coffee product in format of coffee grains and a truly coffee taste, in three different flavors: Cappuccino, Espresso and Latte, in boxes with 8 units of 10g each. Vista da Fazenda is one of the gourmet products that are coming back this year.

nspired by J.S. Bach’s classic composition, Kaffe-Kantate is a collection of five blends made of the best specialty coffee beans. Preludio, Allegro, Minuetto, Vivace and Gran Finale are the beans with own flavors characteristics. Café Maria Bonita shows its Cappuccino in powder, with individual sachets and a unique tea extracted from the Açai berries. Suplicy is represented by its Organic 100% Arabica produced in the mountains of Espirito Santo State, in Brazil.
